Have you heard that the Senate is discussing increasing the tax credit for a home purchase from $8,000 to $15,000?
Did you know that this new program could be available to everyone? That is, everyone looking to purchase a home to actually live in, not an investment property, or a vacation home.
Still, for those of you waiting for more incentive to buy now!!! would an extra $7,000 make a difference?
Rates have been on roller coaster ride lately, and look to be unlikely to hit the lows in the mid 4% range. Higher rates means your dollar doesn't go as far as it would at lower rates - but $15,000 to help you out? That would cover all your closing costs and then some cash in your pocket - just for buying a house?
Stay tuned. I'll keep you posted as more news rolls out

If a good real estate agent can help grease the wheels and get your offer in front of a lender, you can get an answer more quickly, and potentially close more deals.
ReplyDeleteWhile a good realtor is essential in getting a home purchase started, a good loan officer, such as myself, is the one who actually gets the deal closed. The deal doesn't close without financing.
ReplyDeleteThis would be great news for homebuyers--would certainly make me think about taking the plunge! I hope they can make it happen....
ReplyDeleteAnd what I forgot to mention in the original post is that this tax credit has no income limitations attached, like the original $8000 tax credit did. This is being debated in the Senate, so if you like this idea, why not call or write your senator.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment.
